New Residents
Welcome to Griffin! We're glad you are here. To ensure a smooth transition for you, here are a few things you'll need to know about your residential curbside garbage service.
- Garbage is picked up once a week and should be placed out by 6:30AM on the day of the pickup. Only city issued containers will be picked up.
- All garbage must be contained in a securely tied plastic bag before placing into the curbside carts for collection, including pet litter, disposable diapers, and similar waste. Products containing lithium-ion batteries (e.g. children’s toys, cell phones, vape pens, etc.) cannot be placed in the containers for collection. Please contact the Griffin Fire Department for locations where you can dispose of lithium-ion batteries.
- For an additional fee, residential curbside customers may request Special Handling for the collection of bulky items as needed, including furniture, appliances, and oversized yard waste loads. The Special Handling request must be made before placing at the curb.
- If you wish to recycle Old Corrugated Cardboard (OCC), you may take flattened boxes to the Transfer Station located at 1515 Industrial Dr., Griffin, Ga. All boxes must be clean and free of food or other contamination.
