Oak Hill Cemetery

The City of Griffin owns and maintains Oak Hill Cemetery, the largest in Spalding County encompassing approximately 100 acres.  A beautiful and historic property founded by General Lewis Lawrence with markers dating back to the early 1800’s, divided into two sections known as Old Oak Hill and New Oak Hill.  Located within these boundaries, you will find Stonewall Confederate Cemetery, Old and New Rest Haven Cemeteries, Mausoleum and Columbarium structures and Veterans Cemetery, specifically dedicated to resident veterans (and spouses) of Spalding County.  In Veterans Memorial Plaza situated between the two sections, an eternal flame has burned continuously since 1969, lighting impressive monuments that represent all periods of U.S. wars and conflicts, honoring the memory of fallen local heroes and hometown veterans.

Oak Hill Cemetery, rich with history, full of interesting stories and legacies of many notable citizens, remains fully operational to serve the burial needs of our community, today and in the future.
