The Environmental Council is a volunteer-based advisory body that provides the Board of Commissioners with recommendations on policies and procedures that ultimately preserve and protect Griffin’s natural resources for future generations.

Council Members are appointed by the Griffin Board of Commissioners for 3 year terms.

Council Initiatives

The Environmental Council reviews local tree removal requests, makes recommendations local environmental issues, conducts environmental education events, and develops and promotes environmental and community improvement projects.

Annual Stream Cleanup Event

Annual Stream cleanup event brings the community together to help clean our streams and waterways throughout the city of Griffin. Snacks, door prizes, and lunch are provided for a fun filled day of community service.

Meetings and Agendas

The council meetings are every 2nd Thursday of the month from 5:30PM - 7:00PM in the City of Griffin Municipal Courtroom located on the 2rd floor of 100 S Hill Street, Griffin Ga 30224.

Environmental Council meetings are open to the public and all are invited to attend.
