 What Is Available To Help Residents? 

American Red Cross

Contact 1-800-Red-Cross or click here for disaster relief and recovery services. 

Relief Assistance 

If you have a need, please call Find Help GA at 1-800-244-5373, Monday through Friday from 8am to 6pm, or visit www.findhelpga.org.

Food Replacement

Georgia Department of Human Services Division of Family and Children Services will replace food for those on SNAP (Food Stamp) Benefits. Print form here. Call 1-877-423-4746 for more information. Additional SNAP disaster benefits will be available in the coming weeks. Check back for updates.

Registered Emergency Relief Contractors

Citizens are encouraged to reference the list of registered contractors who are legally authorized to provide emergency clean up and repairs within the City. This list may be found here, "Registered Contractor List". Registered contractors will have a visible yellow registration card in all vehicles. 

Debris Monitors Needed

The City of Griffin has contracted with Goodwyn, Mills & Cawood LLC as the debris monitoring company during storm recovery. GMC is looking to hire local citizens impacted by the storm to give back to the Griffin-Spalding community. For more information and to apply click here.

FEMA Disaster Assistance

To apply and get answers to your questions, call 1-800-621-3362. The helpline is open, and help is available from 7am to 11pm in most languages. Online registration is available here. In-person registration can be done at the Spalding County Senior Center, 885 Memorial Drive, Monday through Saturday from 8am to 6pm. You can also visit the FEMA informational page on our website by clicking here. The last day to register in person for FEMA Disaster Assistance is on Friday, March 17, 2023. You can apply online until Monday, March 20, 2023.

Mental Health Crisis Services

Call Georgia Crisis and Access Line at 1-800-715-4225. GCAL is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and 365 days a year to help provide telephonic crisis intervention services, dispatch mobile crisis teams, assist individuals in finding an open crisis bed across the State, and link individuals with urgent appointment services. For more information click here. You can also contact the Disaster Distress Helpline at 1-800-985-5990. This free crisis support service is available all day, every day, for disaster survivors experiencing emotional distress or mental health problems caused or aggravated by the storm and tornadoes or their aftermath. 

Disaster Legal Services

Low-income, elderly and other vulnerable residents who were affected by the disaster and are unable to afford their own lawyer may call 866-584-8027 or 404-527-8793. The helpline is open 9am to 3pm Monday to Friday. Voicemail messages can be left 24 hours a day, every day. When leaving a message, include the county where you are located and describe your disaster-related legal problem. Callers may receive assistance from staff at Georgia Legal Aid or a volunteer attorney. Examples of available assistance include help with securing FEMA and other benefits; insurance claims; home repair contracts and contractors; consumer protection matters; replacement of wills and other important legal documents that were destroyed; and mortgage-foreclosure and landlord/tenant problems.

Business Recovery Center

The Small Business Administration will open a Business Recovery Center to help assist business owners with disaster loans. Visit Spalding Senior Center, 885 Memorial Drive, or Rising Star Missionary Baptist Church, 132 West Cherry Street, Monday through Saturday from 8am to 6pm. Apply online here.

Spalding County Long Term Recovery

If an individual has received the maximum amount of assistance from FEMA and/or the Small Business Administration federal assistance programs or the federal disaster assistance programs do not provide for the entire need, the applicant may register with Spalding County Long Term Recovery for assistance with unmet needs by registering with SCVOAD here. The Griffin-Spalding Chamber of Commerce, located at 143 North Hill Street, is available to help anyone needing assistance with online registration Monday through Friday between 8am and 5pm. A picture ID, insurance company name, address, policy number and amount received from insurance, as well as the FEMA number, amount of funds received from FEMA, and the level of destruction of the property is required for registration.

Disaster Relief Assistance

The National Association of Realtors Relief Foundation is offering assistance to qualified applicants towards monthly mortgage expense, rental cost due to displacement, or hotel reimbursement. Complete application here. Submit by April 15, 2023. 

You Got Mail

The Griffin Post Office, 101 North 8th Street, is holding mail for those residents who no longer have a mailbox. You can pick up your mail Monday through Friday 8:30am to 5pm and Saturday 8:30am to noon. 

Tax Relief for Storm Victims

Georgia Department of Revenue announced certain deadlines for taxpayers have been extended. Visit https://www.irs.gov/newsroom/tax-relief-in-disaster-situations for specific details.
