Griffin Environmental Council
The Environmental Council is a volunteer-based advisory body that provides the Board of Commissioners with recommendations on policies and procedures that ultimately preserve and protect Griffin’s natural resources for future generations.
Council Members are appointed by the Griffin Board of Commissioners for 4 year terms.
The Environmental Council reviews local tree removal requests, makes decisions on local environmental issues, conducts environmental education events, and develops and promotes environmental and community improvement projects.
Annual Stream Cleanup Event
The annual stream cleanup event brings the community together to help clean our streams and waterways throughout the city of Griffin. Snacks, door prizes, and lunch are provided for a fun filled day of community service.

The new Griffin Adopt-a-Street program is a community service opportunity helping to combat littering on our city streets. Companies and groups of 4 or more are welcome to adopt a street and the City of Griffin will provide signage, vests, trash removal, and other equipment.

Environmental Stewardship Award
The City of Griffin Environmental Stewardship Award is an annual celebration to recognize those individuals, groups, or businesses that have been involved in outstanding recycling, beautification, litter control, education, and environmental projects that impact Griffin, GA.
The Environmental Stewardship Award is given each year in April.
Nominations open January 1st and close on the last day of February. When nominations are open an application will be available here.

Meetings and Agendas
The council meetings are every 2nd Thursday of the month from 5:30PM - 7:00PM in the City Manager’s Conference Room located on the 3rd floor of 100 S Hill Street, Griffin Ga 30224.
Environmental Council meetings are open to the public and all are invited to attend.
