    1. Recognize Calvin Vallee, Line Crew Supervisor with the Electric Department, as the September 2014 "Strongest Link" award recipient. Electric Director Bill Bosch will address. No action required      
    2. Consider a Proclamation declaring "Make A Difference Day in Griffin", on October 25, 2014. "Make a Difference Day" focuses on unifying the community and building pride throughout the City of Griffin. James Moore of the Environmental Council will address. Approved      
    3. Review Financials for August 2014. Chief Financial Officer Markus Schwab will address. No action required

CITIZEN COMMENTS

     
               
 
At this time, the Chairperson opens the floor to comments from the audience. Comments should relate to a specific agenda item, not listed on the agenda for a Public Hearing, or to a concern within the jurisdiction of the City. Commission meetings serve the purpose of conducting city business and are not a forum for the unlimited expression of opinion. The Chairperson reserves the right to limit comments to matters germane to city business and may refer speakers to the City Manager or other staff for resolution.

Public Hearings are conducted to allow public comment on specific advertised issues such as rezoning, ordinances, policy development, operating budgets and other legislative actions to be considered by the City Commission.

    4. Consider for approval Minutes of the Workshop on September 23, 2014 and Minutes of the Regular Scheduled Meeting on September 23, 2014. Approved      
               
       
               
 

REGULAR AGENDA

     
               
 
The Regular Agenda includes items on which the Commission will individually consider and possibly take action.
     
               
    5. Consider approval of a blanket agreement for proposed quarterly magazine and authorize the Chairperson to approve completed agreements for the same purpose. Citizen Engagement Specialist Alvin Huff will address. Approved      
    6. Consider approval of a Memorandum of Agreement, between the City of Griffin, Spalding County, the Griffin-Spalding County Airport Authority and the Federal Aviation Administration for the construction of a replacement Griffin-Spalding County Airport. Airport Authority Chairman Dick Morrow will address. Approved      
    7. Consider approval of an Excess Capacity Sale in the amount of 3,101KW to the City of Buford at the price of $2.00/KW, for calendar year 2015. Electric Director Bill Bosch will address. Approved      
    8. Consider an agreement for services with S&ME for the coring analysis of Meriwether Street in the amount not to exceed $2,950.00 for the Public Works Department. Director of Public Works & Utilities Dr. Brant D. Keller will address. Approved      
    9. Consider contract amendment to contract between Charles Abbott Associates and the City of Griffin, Georgia, for building inspections, which adds paragraph "K" related to "structural review." City Manager Kenny Smith will address. Approved      
    10. Acknowledge receipt of and consider denial of a claim for damages related to an an Ante Litem notice received for personal injuries to Mary Harrell, with a loss of consortium claim by Johnathan Harrell, arising from the alleged negligence of a Griffin Police Officer while escorting a funeral possession on May 2, 2014. City Attorney Drew Whalen will address. Approved

The City Manager will update the Commission on pending items, upcoming workshops, meetings, conferences and other pertinent issues.
