CITIZEN COMMENTS

At this time, the Chairperson opens the floor to comments from the audience. Comments should relate to a specific agenda item, not listed on the agenda for a Public Hearing, or to a concern within the jurisdiction of the City. Commission meetings serve the purpose of conducting city business and are not a forum for the unlimited expression of opinion. The Chairperson reserves the right to limit comments to matters germane to city business and may refer speakers to the City Manager or other staff for resolution.

PUBLIC HEARINGS

Public Hearings are conducted to allow public comment on specific advertised issues such as rezoning, ordinances, policy development, operating budgets and other legislative actions to be considered by the City Commission.

1. Receive comments regarding the First Reading of an Ordinance amending the Charter of Griffin, Georgia, pursuant to the authority granted at O.C.G.A. Section 36-35-4.1 in accordance with the procedures set forth at O.C.G.A. Section 36-35-3(1)(b) to reapportion the municipal election district based upon the 2010 Decennial Census. City Attorney Drew Whalen will address.

2. Receive comments regarding a request to rezone approximately .24 +/- acres located at 233 North 6 th Street from Planned Commercial District (PCD) to Medium Density Residential (MDR) for the Spalding County Landbank Authority. Director of Planning and Development Services will address

3. Consider approval of Minutes of the Regular Scheduled Meeting on April 26, 2011 and Minutes of the Workshop on April 26, 2011.

7. Recognize the refund of $3,775.69 from the MEAG Telecom Year End Settlement and direct this refund to be placed in Municipal Competitive Trust, Flexible Operating Account – Short Term Portfolio. Director of Electric Bill Bosch will address.

8. Recognize the refund of the MEAG Year End Settlement in the amount of $834,573 and direct the funds to be deposited in the Municipal Competitive Trust, Flexible Operating Account – Short Term Portfolio. Director of Electric Bill Bosch will address.

9. Consider fee schedule for City of Griffin Cemetery for FY 2011-2012. Director of Public Works and Utilities Dr. Brant Keller will address.

The City Manager will update the Commission on pending items, upcoming workshops, meetings, conferences and other pertinent issues.

CITY COMMISSIONER COMMENTS

Commissioners will provide updates regarding issues of interest from their respective districts and/or committee reports.
