The City of Griffin Geographical Information System (GIS) Department is a division of the Stormwater Department. The GIS Department was added in 1998 as a means to collect and manage the City of Griffin's infrastructure data through the use of GPS and mapping software. Create reports and analyze data in a support role for Stormwater, Water & Wastewater and Public Works. Continue and maintain the operation of a Continuously Operating Reference Station (CORS) in support of a survey-grade data collection system.
The City of Griffin GIS Department offers the following services:
- Control Point Monument Network
- City GIS data available for printing
- Floodplain Management
- Maps of the city

The data collected in imported into mapping software called ArcView. once there, the data can be managed and given attributes.

Once the data has been catalogued it is ready for use by the end user. We provide on-screen viewing and print outs of the data as well.
