What is Economic Development

Economic Development provides services to stimulate economic growth. The City of Griffin is actively recruiting new companies by marketing to and working directly with corporations and relocation consultants to bring more to the Griffin – Spalding area. As well as, continuing the partnership with existing businesses to provide stability and development opportunities. In addition, the City of Griffin collaborate with organizations and businesses to bring downtown events, tourism, and civic partnerships to the area in order to enhance the quality of life and grow economic development overall.

 

Goals and Objectives

  • Expand and Diversify the economic base of the City of Griffin
  • Promote and expand upon the Tourism resources of the City of Griffin
  • Work with local, state, regional and non-profit organizations to promote revitalization of the business districts in the City of Griffin where more investment is needed and there is redevelopment potential

Strategic Location

Strategically located between Atlanta and Macon, Griffin has much to offer new or relocating businesses -- an available and affordable workforce, UGA-Griffin Campus, Southern Crescent Technical College, and Griffin Regional College and Career Academy located within the City limits, over 900 acres of Business and Industrial parks, a strong school system, solid utility infrastructure and low cost of doing business.
